Need help planning your trip? This section is your source for getting around info from booking travel to hitting some of the best ski slopes in the country. Here's everything you need to get plugged into the Sundance Film Festival.

How can you get involved? The Sundance Film Festival is one program of the not-for-profit Sundance Institute. From making a $25 donation to volunteering your time at the Festival, there's a range of opportunities in this section for how you can help support independent film.

Tips for Being Green at the Festival

Here are a few simple things you can do to support Sundance Institute and our sponsor community in our shared efforts to make the 2010 Sundance Film Festival greener.

GETTING AROUND

Timberland applauds the Sundance Film Festival's efforts to help preserve the environment by promoting ecoconscious modes of transportation. A system of walking paths throughout Park City takes you between Festival venues so you can save precious energy spent fighting traffic. Or hop on the free Festival shuttle bus.

                             RECYCLING

You can easily recycle your aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper at even more recycling bins this year at all of our theatres, venues, and shuttle stops, and throughout Park City.

        USING         LESS

For the second year in a row, Brita will help eliminate disposable plastic bottles at the Festival by providing Brita-filtered water and FilterForGood Nalgene bottles. Pick up a limited-edition FilterForGood reusable bottle and carry it with you to refill at Brita Hydration Hubs around the Festival.

Instead of picking up a second of third printed Film Guide, utilize Sundance Film Festival's interactive Online Film Guide. For on-the-go Festival information, try our Sundance Film Festival iPhone app featuring the complete 2010 film schedule, venue and transportation mapping, exclusive videos, and more.

    REDUCE                 ENERGY CONSUMPTION

The energy required to operate the Festival’s theatres and venues has been offset with clean, renewable energy through a relationship with Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky Program. To help conserve energy, remember to lower the thermostat and turn off the lights when leaving your Festival accommodations.

       BUYING                  GREEN

Sundance Film Festival merchandise is repurposed, recycled, or reusable. In an effort to minimize our carbon footprint, we strive to support domestic manufacturers.

RE:build. Sundance joins in global concern for Haiti, its people and those working on the ground during this very challenging time. Sundance Institute is committed to helping the young filmmakers in Haiti tell their story: to raising awareness of CINÉ INSTITUTE, the country's only film school, and their efforts to document the tragedy and recovery since the earthquake. In addition, we have set up a text donation vehicle and encourage the 40,000 Sundance Film Festival goers to make donations to earthquake relief efforts or to seek out other ways in which to assist. Donations will be split evenly between Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children and Oxfam.

Text “SUNHAITI” and the amount you would like to pledge to 27138. For example, text “SUNHAITI 25” to 27138 to make a $25 pledge. There's no limit to the amount you can pledge. Special thanks to Causecast and MobileCause for waiving their fees for the benefit of Haiti; 100% of your donation will go to these nonprofit organizations currently on the ground.
